World Record for the Wellhead Picker
NCA has successfully completed a subsea wellhead recovery operation at 265 meter water depth in the Northern North Sea.

The cutting and recovery operation, which included a net guard and the subsea wellhead, was performed from the subsea contruction vessel Olympic Zeus and marks a new world record for water depth with the Internal Multistring Cutting Tool (IMCT). The cut was made 5 meters below the seabed as per NORSOK guidelines and actual time spent on site was less than 26 hours despite up to 6 meters heave during the operation.

NCA's scope of work on the project was;
- project management
- engineering and preparation of work program
- facilitate hazop
- mobilisation of vessel, cutting and recovery equipment
- offshore removal of net guard and subsea wellhead
- "as left" survey
- demobilisation

Frame agreement for wellhead picking
NCA has signed a frame agreement with Det Norske Oljeselskap for "rig chase" services in relation to their exploration drilling program. Det norske will cement their wells with the drilling rig and leave behind the subsea wellhead for later removal from a less expensive vessel. The contract has a duration of three years plus two years options, and minimum 8 wells. (05.03.10)
